Guava is native to the tropical regions of the Americas, and now is one of the most cultivated fruits in the Caribbean and South America. It is extremely high in vitamin C, even more than some citrus fruits. The fruit itself is only 1.5 - 4.5 inches long (4 - 12 cm), with a rough outer skin, and an interior consisting of generally pink pulp and a large number of small seeds. The fruit is used in culinary applications all over Latin American countries, consumed both as juice and a variety of desserts, snack bars, and candies.
